MOTIVATION DAY 1: Onset of a Motivational Journey

26/08/26 - As always, the day began with a national song and a prayer. While the Grade 10 and 11 students followed their usual routine, we Grade 12 students headed to a special event that day: Motivation Day.

A speech from our beloved dean Mam Ririn opened today's Motivation activity in regards to the challenges one might face going into college. She pulled up real examples from past graduates and took directly from accounts of their experiences. Not in an attempt to discourage though, but rather the opposite. Followed by Miss Eva, who informs the students of today's rundown of activities.

The first session was about writing an anonymous letter. The contents of the letters were kept confidential until they were read by the recipients. There were guidelines for it, so it could be certainly said that no one will write a slandering letter to their friend. It was certainly a fascinating experience for those involved, as it gives them valuable insight to how their friends truly see themselves. The students were then grouped into 4 groups that would stay together until the end of Motivation Day, these groups were then tasked with creating their own distinct cheers. However, the activity was cut short by another activity from Binus University.

The second session went off by an introduction from Theo, a graduate who's currently studying at Binus University. What a coincidence. He proceeded to tell about his experiences getting into college, from failures at getting an SNBP, the differences in pacing at a university, which is a lot faster and harder to keep up with. He also shared tips on time and budget management, which he stated as one of the most critical skills to be had in college.

Onto the third session,  another sharing session was held with an anthropology graduate from the University of Indonesia named Jeremia Ananta, affectionately called Jere/Jerry. Initially, he had high expectations for his future into college, which soon got reality checked as he wasn't accepted in his first two attempts at applying. On his final attempt, which surprised him, he got accepted into a major. Jere then gave direct comparisons between school and college life, such as how assignments work, pacings, etc. He also gave tips on how to become an active student without losing oneself, such as knowing what really matters, prioritizing, the importance of saying no, taking initiatives, making the right friends, etc.  What makes Jere's speech unique was that he drew directly from his college experiences, along with providing concrete examples that excellently back up his words.

Furthermore, Jere informed valuable insights in regards to the questions asked by the students, further increasing wisdom which relate to how one should thrive in a college environment. Last but not least there was Ganesha Operation presenting about their tutoring services. However, aside from that, for most of the time GO socialized about the mechanisms of SNBP/T. Where they discussed with the students problems regarding the necessary preparations, available quota of each major, etc. At the end, there was an offer for interested students.

In summary, today's activities consisted of several motivational speeches and sharing sessions from past graduates, along with insights into what is necessary to prepare for college.
